What Is a Revision?
A revision is a request to modify delivered work. It's NOT:
- A completely new project
- Work outside the original scope
- Adding things that weren't ordered
Revision Expectations
For Buyers
What you can request:
- Adjustments to delivered work
- Fixing errors or omissions
- Changes based on original requirements
- Minor modifications to your preference
What you shouldn't request:
- Entirely new directions
- Features not in the original order
- Unlimited changes indefinitely
- Complete do-overs
For Zinners
Set clear policies:
- Specify revision rounds in your listing
- Define what counts as a revision
- Explain out-of-scope changes
Example listing text:
"This package includes 2 revision rounds. A revision round includes reasonable adjustments to the delivered work. Major changes or new directions may require an additional order."
How to Request a Revision (Buyers)
- Go to your order
- Review the delivery carefully
- Use Order Chat to communicate
- Be specific about what needs changing
- Reference your original requirements
Good revision request:
"Thanks for the delivery! I love the overall design. Could you please:
- Change the font colour from blue to navy
- Move the logo slightly to the left
- Make the tagline text a bit smaller
Everything else is perfect!"
Poor revision request:
"I don't like it. Make it better."
How to Handle Revisions (Zinners)
- Read the feedback carefully
- Ask clarifying questions if needed
- Check if requests are within scope
- Complete reasonable revisions promptly
- Re-deliver with a message
Scope Creep
Scope creep is when revision requests exceed the original order.
Signs of scope creep:
- "Can you also add..."
- "What about including..."
- "I changed my mind, let's do..."
- Requests not mentioned in requirements
How to handle (Zinners):
"Thanks for the additional ideas! Those would be great additions. However, that would be outside our original scope. I'd be happy to help with that in a follow-up order. Would you like me to create a custom offer?"
Unlimited Revisions?
Some Zinners offer "unlimited revisions." This typically means:
- Unlimited changes within the original scope
- Not unlimited new work
- Reasonable revision requests
- A finite project, not indefinite support
When to Involve Support
Contact support if:
- Revision requests are clearly unreasonable
- There's disagreement about scope
- Communication has broken down
- You've attempted resolution without success
