When to post a Project vs buy a Zinn
- Buy a Zinn — ready-made service packages with fixed pricing. Best when a package already fits what you need. Instant checkout, no back-and-forth.
- Browse the Freelancer Directory — find a specific Zinner whose profile matches, then hire them directly. Best when you already know the kind of person you want and want to reach out.
- Post a Project — describe your job and let freelancers propose. Best when your needs are custom or you want multiple bids to compare.
If you're unsure what a fair price is, or your requirements don't match any existing package, Projects are usually the right call.
How to post a Project
Go to My Account → Post a Project, or visit /projects/post/ directly. You'll fill in:
- Title — a short, clear summary of what you need (max 200 characters).
- Description — a detailed brief. The clearer and more specific, the better the proposals you'll get. Minimum 100 characters.
- Category — choose the marketplace category that fits best (for example SEO, Web Design, Content Writing).
- Skills Required — tag the specific skills. These are matched against Zinner profiles for invitations and filtering.
- Budget Range — minimum and maximum in USD. Realistic ranges attract serious proposals.
- Deadline — optional. Useful if you have a hard date.
- Urgent flag — optional. Marks the project as a priority and gives it a visual boost on the Projects hub.
Before your project goes live, it passes a quick moderation check — banned words or contact information in the description will trigger a hold while we review. Most projects go live within minutes.
How proposals arrive
Once the project is live, Zinners can submit proposals from your project page at /projects/{your-slug}/. You'll receive notifications by email and Telegram (if enabled) as they come in.
Each proposal shows:
- The Zinner's headline, rating, and profile link
- Their cover letter (up to 2000 characters)
- Their proposed price and timeline
- Either attached Zinns from their shop, or a Custom Project Offer with a full breakdown of what's included
- A Message button so you can ask questions before deciding
You can review proposals at your own pace. The number you receive depends on category, budget, and urgency. Tight budgets and vague briefs attract fewer; clear briefs with fair budgets get more.
Inviting specific Zinners
You don't have to wait for proposals to come in. Browse the /freelancers/ directory, find Zinners whose profiles match what you need, and click "Invite to Project" on their profile. A modal lets you pick which of your open projects to invite them to and attach an optional personal message.
Invites nudge the Zinner without forcing anything — they'll see it in their dashboard, receive email and Telegram notifications, and can choose whether to submit a proposal. Invites work alongside open proposals, not instead of them.
Messaging before you hire
Every proposal has a Message button that opens a direct conversation with the Zinner. Messaging is unrestricted — no filtered contact details, no platform monitoring, no TOS restrictions that would block you from discussing the job properly. You can exchange messages, share files, and (if the Zinner has it enabled) jump on a video call, all before accepting.
Accepting a proposal and paying
When you're ready, click Accept on the proposal you want. Two things happen:
- Every other proposal on your project is automatically declined with a polite notification to each Zinner.
- The project status changes to awaiting_order and the Zinner is notified to send you the paid offer.
What comes next depends on how the Zinner structured their proposal:
- If they attached a Zinn, you'll get a direct Buy link — click and check out through the normal Zinn Hub process.
- If they prepared a Custom Project Offer, that offer is auto-created at the agreed price and sent to you as a payment link. Review the details, then pay.
Either way, you pay through the normal Zinn Hub checkout. You can use a card (via Stripe), PayPal, or cryptocurrency (USDT or USDC). You get full buyer protection from your chosen payment provider — Stripe and PayPal both handle chargebacks if something goes wrong — and Zinn Hub personally mediates any disputes.
Tracking the project
Your My Account → My Projects page shows every project with its current status:
- Open — live and accepting proposals
- Awaiting Offer — you've accepted a proposal, waiting for the Zinner to send the paid offer
- Awaiting Payment — offer is ready, just needs your payment
- In Progress — paid, work underway
- Completed — order finished, time to leave a review
Status moves automatically as the linked order progresses through checkout, delivery, and completion. You don't need to update anything manually.
Leaving a review
Once the project is completed, both you and the Zinner get a review prompt. Your review appears publicly on the Zinner's Freelancer Profile and helps future buyers decide. Be honest — good and bad reviews are what keep the marketplace healthy.
